As a guest of the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio on the Riverwalk I had the pleasure of touring the hotel during my stay.
The Hyatt Regency is not only located on the Riverwalk but it is the only hotel that still has some of the river running through it. As soon as we entered the lobby my son saw the river and assumed it was the pool.
When we arrived it was late at night so I didn’t expect there to be many staff members around to assist us. I was wrong. Someone greeted us when we pulled up and gave us the option of valet parking or using the garage, which they showed us how to get across the street to the garage after helping us unload our luggage from the car.
The atmosphere of the hotel was very welcoming. The decor was very open and modern which I love and the environment was relaxing. They had a newly opened 24 hour bagel shop right indoors which was nice, especially for night-owls like ourselves.
All the staff members were extremely friendly and willing to help in any way possible. We were beyond pleased with the room. It was gorgeous and spacious. There was plenty of closet room for all of our clothes and draw space which is perfect for families with multiple children traveling. The beds were comfortable and so were the pillows which is not always easy to come by in my opinion. I suffer from migraines and sleeping comfortably is important to prevent them.
Right away the kids wanted to microwave popcorn so we had to call housekeeping and request a microwave be brought to the room. I was a little surprised it didn’t have one already in it but they were able to deliver it quickly with no problems.
The next morning while the rest of the family was getting ready I went down and took a tour of the Hyatt Regency. Since I travel a lot it was nice to see the full facility and what all they had to offer their guests. I loved the view from the pool. The pool is located outside on the top deck overlooking the Alamo. Their workout center had all new equipment and was nicely remodeled.
Since I attend multiple conferences a year I thought it was important to view the meeting rooms and facilities. I would highly recommend using the Hyatt Regency for conferences. The location is excellent, the staff is personable and helpful and their rooms are spacious and laid out great with convenience to restaurants within walking distance.
Our second night we were exhausted from a long day at Sea World and wanted to dine in. Instead of going down to the restaurant we ordered food to bring up to the room. The Hyatt Regency has a top notch restaurant located inside called the Q on The Riverwalk. The food was delicious. I ordered Brisket Tacos that I’ve never had taste so good. T had shrimp and was just as impressed. They are famous for their world bar-b-que and I can see why. The restaurant itself is very nice inside and would make a perfect place for a dinner date or a family outing.
In the center of the restaurant you can watch them cooking on the fire wall. The savory smells drift outside of the restaurant so if you are hungry it’ll pull you right in. The meat was truly cooked to perfection.
Our stay was fabulous and the kids loved riding in the glass elevators, watching as we went up and down. Taking a stroll out to the Riverwalk was so simple and being so close to all the attractions such as the Alamo, Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Wax Museum was great. We never had to take the car except to drive to Sea World. The walking distance was so close that everyone was comfortable getting out and about.
Full Disclosure: Our stay was complimentary thanks to the Hyatt Regency for hosting us. We had a fabulous time and do look forward to going back again soon. All opinions are 100% mine.

I live in Texas but driving down to San Antonio is such a different culture than even Dallas. We enjoy it.

That looks like such an amazing hotel. I’d love to stay there. But not in the summer. The thought of going to San Antonio in the summer with the humidity scares me so.

I live in Texas myself and the summers do get brutal. So hot and humid. After over 30 years and I’m still not 100% used to it. The hotel is amazing and the Fall is gorgeous. Holidays on the Riverwalk are beautiful, too, with all the lights.

Dwan, you had me when you said the river actually flows through the lobby! The hotel looks lovely and your description of the food made my mouth water! Brisket tacos!

We really did enjoy the restaurant. That is hard to come by in hotels. A nice hotel with a restaurant that serves delicious food at a reasonable price? Score.
