The Four Corners Monument was a neat place to visit. My family and I had a great time being able to stand in four states at once. However, we didn’t know what to expect when we visited so we put together a list of helpful tips you need to know before you visit Four Corners Monument.

Fun Fact: the Four Corners Monument has six governments that have jurisdictional boundaries. The states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, as well as the Navajo Nation and Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation.
What to Bring to Four Corners Monument
- Sunscreen – this is a must
- Umbrella or a hat to help block the sun
- Water
It can be very hot while waiting in line to take photos at the monument. There are vendor stands where you can buy drinks and keepsakes. Not every booth was occupied when we went in June, so I suggest taking bottled water just incase they aren’t selling any when you go.
The restrooms are behind the vendor stands, so make sure you go before getting in line. The Four Corners Monument seems like it is in the middle of no where. People only come to snap a photo standing in all four states at once, plan for a wait. You will be standing in line in the direct sun without shade, this is where a hat and sunscreen is imperative.
While you’re waiting in line, get to know the person behind you. You’re going to need a helping hand to take your photo of you or your family. Then you can do the same for them.
Before my wife had her picture taken she touched the ground and found out it was very hot, so be careful during the summer.
My beautiful wife wanted a kiss while standing in four states. While we waited in line it was fun watching other people take photos to see the different poses they came up with.
This is when getting to know someone will help. That way your whole family can be in the photo together.
Fun fact: Did you know that Four Corners National Monument is the only place in the United States where you can stand in four states at the same time? Now you can mark off Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah from your bucket list at once.
Next time you travel and you have the opportunity to visit the Four Corners National Monument, I suggest you make it one of your stops. We had a blast and loved standing in four states at once. It was a short pitstop along our road trip back to Texas from the Grand Canyon.
